  1. Who can use Shop Well with You?
    Our website is relevant to any woman who has a history of cancer or who is currently in treatment as well as their caregivers and healthcare providers. SWY is available to women and is not offered to men or children at this time.

  2. What are some examples of women who utilize Shop Well with You?
    • A woman with lymphedema, or more specifically, a swollen arm as a result of having her lymph nodes removed, may want a hard-to-find blouse that fits properly.
    • A woman with a colostomy bag may require pants or a skirt that accommodate the medical apparatus.
    • A woman may be looking for a front-closure shirt since a mastectomy has made it difficult to lift her arm to put a shirt over her head.
    • A woman having radiation treatment may be looking for shirts or dresses made of natural fabrics to provide comfort for skin sensitivity.

    Yes! Our resources are relevant to any woman who has had cancer in the past or who is currently in treatment. SWY can assist you regardless of when cancer first impacted your life.

  4. Does SWY accept clothing donations? Does SWY provide free clothing for women?
    SWY focuses on providing helpful information and resources that allow women with cancer to consider clothing as a tool to aid their well-being. We do NOT donate clothing nor do we accept clothing donations.

  5. Does SWY provide make-up tips?
    SWY is an information hub for clothing-related resources. While we do not provide make-up tips, some of the organizations listed in Related Services do provide beauty-related assistance and a number of cancer-related skincare lines are mentioned in the SWY Clothing and Accessory Directory.

  6. How can a healthcare provider use this website?
    Healthcare providers can utilize SWY's website to become more informed about issues around body-image and cancer and the related resources that are available. They can use this knowledge to help their patients talk more readily and openly about this often overlooked topic.

    Frequently, women are unaware that cancer-specific clothing and products exist or they do not have the time to locate these resources. Healthcare providers can refer to the SWY website when helping patients find specific resources that will improve their body-image and overall sense of well-being during and after treatment.

  7. Does SWY have other programs in addition to its website?
    Shop Well with You (SWY) is a not-for-profit organization and body-image resource for women surviving cancer, their caregivers and healthcare providers. Through its website, SWY focuses on helping women improve their self-image and quality of life.

    In 2006, SWY revised its services to more efficiently reach its constituency. SWY decided to focus on maintaining its website with the most comprehensive and up-to-date body-image resources.

    On SWY's website, you can find:
    • Customized clothing tips arranged by cancer-related treatments and side-effects
    • A directory of cancer-specific products such as swimsuits and head coverings as well as where these items can be located
    • Guidance on how to use clothing and accessories to maintain a positive body-image during and after treatment, and
    • Articles and books focused on body-image, clothing, cancer, and wellness.
