1.  Who can use Shop Well with You's services?
Our services are available to any woman who has a history of cancer or who is currently in treatment — and their caregivers. SWY's programs are available to women, and are not offered to men or children at this time.

2.  What are some examples of women who utilize Shop Well with You?
  • A woman with lymphedema, or more specifically, a swollen arm as a result of having her lymph nodes removed, may want a hard-to-find blouse that fits properly to disguise this symptom.
  • A woman with a colostomy bag may require pants or a skirt that accommodate the medical apparatus.
  • A woman may be looking for a shirt that buttons down the front or back since a mastectomy has made it difficult to lift her arm to put a shirt over her head.
  • A woman having radiation treatment may be looking for shirts or dresses made of natural fabrics to provide comfort for skin sensitivity.

3.  Will SWY's information be relevant to me if I finished treatment years ago?
Yes! Our services are available to any woman who has had cancer in the past or who is currently in treatment. SWY is here to assist you regardless of when cancer first impacted your life.

4.  Does SWY accept clothing donations? Does SWY provide free clothing for women?
SWY focuses on providing helpful information and resources that allow women with cancer to consider clothing as a tool to aid their well-being. We do NOT donate clothing nor do we accept clothing donations.

5. Does SWY provide make-up tips?
SWY is an information hub for clothing-related resources. While we do not provide make-up tips, some of the organizations listed in Related Services do provide beauty-related assistance.

6. Can I use SWY's services if I don't live in New York City?
Yes. Our website is a resource available to women nationwide. However, our Fashion Your Own Sense of Self outreach programs are only offered in the New York metropolitan area. If you are outside New York City and you have any specific clothing-related questions for SWY, please fill out a Resource Request Form so that we can best address your needs.

7. Will you conduct a Fashion Your Own Sense of Self outreach in my community?
We conduct FOSS outreaches in New York City and the surrounding areas. If you would like to attend one of our outreaches, please visit our Event Calendar for upcoming dates. For more information on hosting a FOSS outreach at your organization, support group, or hospital, email info@shopwellwithyou.org.

At this time, SWY is not training volunteer Personal Shoppers. Instead, SWY has many other volunteer opportunities available.
